Update from the GM

We were recently contacted by a Stuff reporter seeking comment on cosmetics and the cost of living crisis. After speaking with a number of members what emerged was encouraging albeit a little surprising. The "lipstick effect", where cosmetics and personal care helps people feel good, means there's more a shift to multi benefit products and size changes, rather than a downturn in the time of economic crunch. We are keen to hear more member perspectives as the year progresses.

MAY

We are nearing submission deadline of 31-May for the Cosmetic Group Standard amendments. The Cosmetics NZ draft submission will be circulated next week for feedback. The submission will also be reviewed at the Tech/Reg webinar on 24-May. Details to register below.

The Sustainability Series is underway and Rob's approach was optimistic and balanced with business practicalities. The second webinar in ourseriesfeatures Marsha Boustred of Ecotricity, also on 24-May. It will be a busy day!

JUNE

The big project for May/June will be the Cosmetics NZ Packaging Survey. Dynata will conduct this research and we encourage maximum participation so the data can be used as part of The Packaging Forum recommendations to government. More on this to come and any questions, please be in touch.

Mid June Cosmetics NZ heads to the Cosmetics Europe Conference in Belgium and I look forward to meeting our counterparts at the international associations and learning more about their sustainability and member initiatives.

The Cosmetics NZ AGM is on 28-June so be on the look out for nomination forms and documents early June.

A big thank you to all members who have subscribed to the Sustainability Series. It's great to see the support, interaction and questions.

As always please be in touch for any support in the coming weeks.
