The third reading of the Therapeutic Products Bill will likely be coming up today, as it is number 3 on the order paper today. Cosmetics NZ emailed the Minister requesting a meeting and the response was "the concerns were noted and that the Ministry would respond directly" about the issues we raised. We are still waiting. We have met with the opposition spokespeople for Health from National, Act, The Greens, and reached out to The Maori Party and NZ First.
Two Supplementary Order Papers have been drafted that recommend exemption of Cosmetics and Susncreens from the bill.
Given the government has a majority, we can only hope there's debate to ensure additional information is required thereby delaying the passing of the Bill before the election.
